VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies
The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies is an occupational qualification that provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as a beauty therapist. This qualification is based on Habia National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification is recognised by the UK's largest beauty therapy trade body/professional association i.e. The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and also the UK's second largest association representing beauty therapy employers; the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a beauty therapist.
This qualification has specifically been designed for the 16-19 age group and builds on existing knowledge and understanding of beauty therapy gained at Level 2, enabling learners to expand the scope of their technical skills to prepare learners for employment as a beauty therapist.
The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including health and safety, client care and communication, electrical face and body treatments, and body massage. These units are all mandatory.
Learners also have the opportunity to undertake optional units to enhance their range of practical skills such as applying individual semi-permanent eyelash extensions, intimate waxing for male and female clients, micro-dermabrasion skin treatments, self tanning, electrical epilation, stone therapy, massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils and Indian head massage. This qualification is comprised of five mandatory units and in order to be awarded the qualification, learners must also gain a minimum of 8 credits from units in the optional group.
Career opportunities as a beauty therapist exist in a variety of contexts, including:
